POSITION SUMMARY
The primary functions of the position are processing work orders to assure proper inventory and asset allocations, processing accounts payable related to operations, preparing certain budget worksheets and analysis, and processing broadband billing and other billing as necessary. This position is also responsible for various other accounting duties and providing cover for the E&O Coordinators as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
•Maintain construction assembly units with the appropriate record unit items per engineering specifications.
•Verify all charges to work orders including material, labor, special services, and overheads.
•Verify record units to be closed to plant accounts.
•Work with engineering and operations to assure accuracy of work orders before closing process.
•Close work orders to plant accounts monthly.
•Communicate with all necessary parties regarding work order questions.
•Monitor the amount in the work in progress account.
•Follow-up on outstanding work orders with engineering department to speed closing process.
•Calculate construction cost per man hours for work orders and update system.
•Bill appropriate parties for damages accumulated on work orders.
•Update standard costs as needed, at least on a yearly basis.
•Follow retention schedules for work order information to meet all BCREMC policies, federal and state laws and if applicable RUS guidelines.
•Update and maintain SPANS as necessary.
•Record and code invoices for proper accounting distribution.
•Prepare budgets and perform budget/actual variance analysis.
•Maintain Outage Management System data and prepare reports and analysis.
•Process retirement of special equipment.
•Calculate special equipment installation costs on an annual basis.
•Update annual audit worksheets as assigned.
•Prepare material invoices for input verifying accuracy of work orders and account numbers.
•Responsible for planning weekly material / special equipment inventory and adjusting as needed.
•Perform duties in accordance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to BCREMC.
•Serve member/customer by taking appropriate action on requests and questions promptly.
•Maintain effective communications within area of responsibility and communicates with other departments to assure coordinated efforts and understanding in carrying out objectives. Work to obtain mutually agreeable solutions on problems involving coordination.
•Create and maintain accurate records, files and reports related to areas of responsibility.
•Cover Engineering and Operation Coordinators as needed. This requires significant focus and communications with internal and external customers.
•Perform other duties as may be requested to fulfill the needs of BCREMC in the interest of good management practices.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or related field preferred. Five or more years of extensive accounting experience, preferably in cost accounting or at electric utility.
•Ability to perform all work with a high degree of accuracy and in a timely manner with a focused attention to detail.
•Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
•Knowledge of computer skills, preferably Microsoft Office, that include spreadsheets, word processing, data analysis and presentations.
•Knowledge and ability in planning, organizing and coordination of a variety of activities to obtain maximum results.
•Ability to read, write and be proficient in mathematics.
•A proficiency in the English language and its proper usage is necessary to fulfill the requirements of this position. An asset is the ability to communicate in a second language.
•Must be able to multi-task and be a team player.
•Must be able to travel as required to meetings for REMC, which may require overnight stays.
•Must adhere to company safety standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires that the individual spend most of the day at a desk, in front of a computer answering phones and interacting with coworkers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
Frequently – see (read small print on maps and computer screens), talk, hear, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, type, feel and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally – stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a climate-controlled office environment with low noise levels.
