Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Mechanic in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative which focuses on distributing electric service to members in four counties.
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Cooperative fleet vehicles and equipment. This bargaining unit position requires a high level of technical expertise, a proactive approach to troubleshooting and strong problem-solving abilities to ensure the fleet operates safely and efficiently with minimal downtime. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
General and preventative maintenance, brake inspections and replacements, installation, inspection, inflation, rotation and mounting of wheels and tires, and oil changes.
Diagnose and repair electrical systems and electronics, AC, HVAC, hydraulics, and cooling systems.
Test and repair steering, suspensions, powertrain and driveline.
Utilize fleet software to keep accurate records of all fleet vehicles and equipment, manage maintenance schedules and track and update work orders.
Perform and/or coordinate activities for annual DOT inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment meeting Cooperative and OSHA safety standards.
Preferred candidates will possess the qualifications listed below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a recognized mechanic training program of at least four years or equivalent experience.
Successful completion of ASE Certified Master Medium/Heavy Trucks Technician or ability to obtain within 12-months.
Electric cooperative work experience preferred.
Experience with fabrication and welding preferred.
Bucket and digger/derrick experience preferred.
Personal & Position Qualifications:
Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License or obtain within six-months.
Must have the physical ability to perform duties required which include but are not limited to occasionally working outside in all weather conditions, lifting objects up to 100lbs, occasionally walking on all types of terrain, and prolonged walking and standing throughout the cooperative facilities.
Ability to understand and follow cooperative maps, cooperative safety manual, service orders, and any type of instructions and cooperative forms related to work being performed.
Must demonstrate initiative and good judgement in decision making.
Must be able to work effectively and communicate with a variety of individuals.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
This is a full-time, 1st shift, bargaining unit position that requires occasional evening and weekend work.
